I teach a one hour kid’s art class every week, and we often sketch the still life. I set up small groups of objects at tables around the room, and the kids are instructed to move around and draw as many as they can. The white still life is great practice for contrast without the distractions of texture or color. I turn out the lights for greater value differentiation, and it makes for an eerie art room. The kids love it. Enjoy a slideshow of the set-up. Next I’ll post some of the drawings the kids came up with.
