I use my painting surface as a confessional, in a way, and the process requires me to embrace vulnerability. It doesn’t always feel definite that there will be something to catch me at the bottom of my free-fall into self-honesty. I love the phrase because it sums up the idea of blind faith, which I believe is required of us from time to time, and is a great reminder of our place in the world. A net also refers to something that captures and confines. Becoming unfettered from a net of ignorance and denial has been a benefit of my exploration.
